Mt. Dickey

Date: 1-26-2002
Trails:
Mt. Dickey Trail
Distance: 4 miles roundtrip
Difficulty:
Easy to Moderate (only because I was tired)
Conditions:
Warm for January, trail well packed less tha 1' of snow mostly
Special Required Equipment: Fall hiking gear, the plastic boots were overkill, sunglasses for all the open ledges you walk on higher up.

Trip Report: After doing Tecumseh in AM, I was pretty beat so when I saw the col between Welch & Dickey, I decided I had enough elevation gain. I never would have driven from CT just for this trip by itself but I'm glad I went on Saturday. The number of ledges on Dickey & those visible on Welch make this a trip with many more views than you might expect on two sub 3K peaks. I'll come back when my daughter is older (if she likes hiking) & we can do the whole loop together for the first time.
